Who we are:
We are a medium-sized, cloud-based consultancy headquartered in Las Vegas, NV with consultants located across the US and worldwide, from Asia to South America. Our primary focus is academic consulting for doctoral-level clients, and we are currently hiring editors.
This position is a strictly remote position, and any applicant should view this as a strong incentive. Ideal applicants will have a strong background and interest in academic writing and editing, specifically in the social sciences, and pride themselves on being fast, efficient, and detail-oriented in their work. Many of our long-term analysts also work as adjunct professors and freelance writers or editors and appreciate the flexibility the analyst position offers for family, travel, or creative endeavors. Please note that hours for these positions are flexible, from part-time (10 hours per week) up to full-time (50-60 hours per week), depending on schedule and preferences.

Each applicant will be required to complete a trial project, which allows for evaluation of required skills to successfully fill the editor role. All applicants to the same position will receive the same trial project. Please note, successful applicants will be paid for the trial project, but unsuccessful applicants will NOT be paid. MS Word is required for the trial project and for all final deliverables.

Job responsibilities:
Your main responsibility will be to edit documents ranging from 25-200 pages, virtually all in APA 6.0 format, for both internal use and directly for clients. Almost all the documents will be academic papers (primarily dissertations), and familiarity with dissertation formatting guidelines is required.

Applicants must have a strong background in editing as we do not train editors. In particular, applicants should be familiar with all functions of MS Word, and specifically be very comfortable with APA 6.0 formatting and style guidelines as applicable to documents in MS Word format. Additionally, applicants should be fully knowledgeable of all the major formatting guidelines of a standard doctoral-level dissertation, including headings, front matter, references, etc.

Requirements:
Applicants must possess a positive attitude, a “hustle” work ethic, a meticulous nature and an extremely high attention to detail, as well as excellent command of the English language. As mentioned above, in-depth knowledge of the scholarly conventions for writing in the social sciences in general, and APA 6.0 style specifically, are required. Additional knowledge of another style guide (MLA, CMOS, Bluebook, Harvard, Turabian, etc.) is strongly preferred.

At minimum, a bachelor's degree, preferably from a good American university, is required for our editors. However, most of our analysts have graduate degrees and some graduate-level education and/or experience editing graduate-level or published academic research is strongly preferred.

Compensation:
Pay for editors is $1/page for internal work completed for company documents (less common), and $1.50/page for external editing completed for client documents (the vast majority of projects). A typical edit will be between 25-200 pages and will pay $1.50/page.

To Apply:
Please reply with a recently updated resume, and a cover letter or email explaining your interest in the editor position.
