Kavod Senior Life is currently seeking a Part-Time Van Driver & Trip Assistant to join our team! If you’re looking for work where you can make a difference and be a part of a great team this may be the position for you.
SCHEDULE: 20 hours per week, schedule is based on current activity calendars, various weekdays and limited weekend hours. The schedule for this position is dynamic and determined by the Senior Living and Assisted living activity trip calendars. Candidates must possess the flexibility to work hours that fluctuate weekly based on scheduled departures and events.
SUMMARY: To assist the Life Enrichment Director in enriching the lives of the residents of Kavod Senior Life by providing access to day trips and outings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for assisting Life Enrichment Lead Driver and Life Enrichment staff on outings and days trips as assigned by the Director of Life Enrichment.
• Van driver for Senior Living, Assisted Living and KOTR trips; Drives 10 passenger van for regularly scheduled routes and planned outings, including trips to concerts, grocery stores, restaurants, museums, etc., and community events. Operates the wheelchair lift when necessary.
• This includes, but is not limited to: assisting residents with boarding and departing the van, check-in of residents as they board the van, assist with carrying groceries for residents, making sure residents are properly buckled up in their seats, safely escort residents on outings as directed, and providing assistance as needed. Provides compassionate and safe care while complying with Life Enrichment safety protocols.
• Must be available to work various weekday hours including limited weekend hours.
• Performs daily cleaning of the van upon trip completion to include trash removal, sweeping and seat belt check
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
• Notify Director of Life Enrichment of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
• Ensure all walkers and wheelchairs are safely secured and are strapped according to DOT regulations
• Maintains CPR First Aid certification
• Attend Training seminars
• Perform all other duties as assigned by my supervisor
License & Endorsement/ EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Prefer valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License, CDL C or B with Passenger and Hazmat endorsement, due to carrying oxygen, and safe driving record. 6 month’s experience in a driving position preferably with senior adults, and the ability to navigate to and from destinations. Knowledge of Department of Transportation laws and regulations preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret agency memorandums, policies and procedures, human service journals, financial reports, and related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, families, community agencies or staff.
Qualifications and Requirements: Must be sensitive to the social, emotional and physical needs of the residents as well as respect their right to dignity and self-determination. Patience and good communications skills are essential. Will act in a professional manner and respond calmly in emergency situations. Previous experience working in an older adult facility or providing care for older adults is preferred but not required. Good oral and written communications skills are necessary. Able to interact appropriately and professionally with residents and staff. Able to work with frequent interruptions and work with residents who may demonstrate behavioral issues.
