An Excavator Operator manipulates heavy equipment to excavate, grade and landscape earth completing underground utility (Water, sewer, fire lines) repairs
Responsibilities encompass site preparation, trench digging, and material handling, ensuring
adherence to safety protocols and project specifications.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on the excavator and report any issues to the supervisor
Dig trenches, excavate and move materials, debris, and other objects using the excavator
Ensure accuracy and precision in digging and excavating to avoid damage to underground utilities and structures
Follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure that the excavation work meets the required standards
Coordinate with other workers on the job site to ensure safety and efficiency
Communicate with project managers and supervisors to update them on the progress of the excavation work
Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and protocols
Requirements:
Must have a valid excavator operator certification or license
Experience in operating excavators of various sizes and types
Ability to read and understand excavation plans and blueprints
Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines for excavator operation
Physical stamina and dexterity to operate the equipment for extended periods
Good communication skills to coordinate with other workers on the job site
Ability to perform routine maintenance and inspections on the equipment
Flexibility to work weekends and overtime when necessary

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING
Must be 21 years of age
Two (2) year of related experience in excavating
Must have a valid excavator operator certification or license
Experience in operating excavators of various sizes and types
Experience in underground utility line repairis
Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines for excavation operation
Any equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the
candidate possesses the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the qualifications of the job.
Valid Driver’s License
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for long periods
Must be able to drive for long periods
Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items weighing up to 25 pounds
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders
