I’m a retired SW engineer and I bought this new from MicroCenter last fall. My daily driver is a MacBook Pro, but I wanted a box I could put Linux on and this had pretty good specs. AMD Ryzen 7 7730U with Radeon Graphics, 1 T SSD, 40 G Ram, Windows 11 Pro, and a slot for a 2nd SSD. I put a 512 G SSD in that second slot so I could keep Windows on the one drive and install Linux on the other.
Well, I explored several distros, Fedora, Mint, Debian, Ubuntu, and also the virtual machine software, Boxes. Also a variety of browsers, mail, office, and music software. I’ve pretty much caught up with the Linux world as well as the Windows world and ready to go back to my MacBook, so I can now pass the ThinkPad on to a new owner who will appreciate and use it.
I’ll reset Windows to the new install screen and format the second drive to NTFS so the next user will be basically looking at a new box with extra storage and a Lenovo ThinkPad bag.
This would be a great unit for most anyone, student, business, home, hobby. You’d have pretty recent technology at a reasonable price. And if you’re interested in installing Linux, it’s ready to go and I’d be happy to share any knowledge I have with you.
