I used to use this regularly without the monthly subscription, then they changed something, so that you have to have a subscription for the bike to work. It works pretty well, but the bike needs to connect to the display through a bluetooth connection in order to get any mechanical resistance from the knob. They pushed a firmware update a while back that temporarily disconnected the bluetooth, and now I can't get the bike reconnected/working without a subscription. Subscriptions start at $12/month, which gets you access to online classes, similar to a Peloton.
