I have a Vintage Union Steel Chest Corporation USCC) Tackle Box that is in very good condition. The metal tackle box with its continuous piano-style hinge measures 14"W x 7"D x 6"H and features a 12" embossed ruler on the lid and a 5 compartment cantilever organizer tray inside. The handle, name badge and spill-proof latch are stainless steel. The exterior has received a new, spray-painted coat of Rust-Oleum Sail Blue* Gloss Protective Enamel while the interior, which has signs of light rust, is in its original condition. If you are a fisherman with New York State heritage, then this historical artifact belongs in your collection. $40

*NOTE: Blue is one of New York's colors as defined in the State's official branding guide.

In 1932 – 1933, three former executives of Union Chest and Cabinet Corp. (UCCC) bought the marketing rights to the tool case and chest business and relocated to LeRoy, NY. Their new business was named Union Steel Chest Corporation (USCC). As their name implies, they were primarily in the steel chest manufacturing business. However, they continued to offer wooden machinist tool cases and chests. To do this they had American Drafting Furniture Co. (ADFC) continue building wood cases and chests for them. USCC was essentially an assembly and marketing company for this line. Ergo, the cases were purchased on the outside and "trimmed" in LeRoy. The wooden chests came in three styles and were carried through 1953. Union itself produced steel utility and tool chests until the late 1960s when plastic fishing tackle boxes were introduced. The Company relocated to Chandler AZ in 1973 and closed in 1984. Source: www.practicalmachinist.com
