Campus Recreation provides high quality and innovative co-curricular experiences through comprehensive recreation, fitness and leisure services that foster personal, academic and professional success for the students, faculty and staff of Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Auraria community.

The Group Fitness Coordinator is responsible for managing, developing, scheduling, supervising and evaluating the Group Fitness Program offered through Campus Recreation. This is a comprehensive fitness and wellness program designed to support and serve the needs of the diverse stakeholders of the tri-institutional Auraria Campus. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Fitness and Facility Operations.

30% Program Development and Operations
 Responsible for the administration and coordination of the Group Fitness Program for students, faculty, staff, spouses and alumni of Metropolitan State University of Denver, Community College of Denver, University of Colorado at Denver and the Auraria Higher Education Center
 Schedules group fitness classes taking into account the facility schedule availability, the needs of the campus community and the level/type of expertise of the fitness instructors
 Leads group fitness classes about once per day
 Coordinates group fitness workshops and group fitness certifications for student instructors through nationally recognized organizations
 Maintains participation tracking system and administers participant satisfaction surveys
 Communicates changes in policy, procedures or facility changes to the group fitness instructors
 Responsible for creation and administration of special events, workshops, fitness incentive programs and wellness challenges
 Serves as a substitute for instructors and support staff as needed
 Completes program assessments and provides report to supervisor for inclusion in department annual report
 Maintain monthly management reports in this area

30% Supervision and Development of Instructors and Support Staff
 Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises group fitness instructors and support staff
 Leads and assists instructors through probationary period
 Mentors group fitness instructors
 Provides communication and assistance to group fitness instructors and support staff
 Attends classes to provide feedback leading to continued professional development as well as to ensure participant safety
 Develops training courses and manual for instructors
 Approves and submits time sheets

20% Equipment Management
 Researches latest trends and new information in the fields of fitness, health, wellness, medicine and exercise to support instructor and program development
 Explores and provides recommendations for updated equipment
 Manages music library and online streaming music account (Fit Radio)
 Maintains group fitness and audio equipment, which includes cleaning, organizing and inventorying

10% Program Outreach
 Identifies and develops relationships with on-campus departments for increased engagement
 Collaborates with campus organizations to propose and develop new initiatives for Healthy Pursuits and Be Well Auraria
 Works with designer to create and distribute flyers to promote the Group Fitness Program

10% Other Duties as Assigned

 Bachelor's degree
 Possess current nationally-recognized certificate in group fitness or similar discipline
 Possess a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days
 Working knowledge of Windows based computer system and Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

 Experience leading group fitness classes and/or personal training
 Experience supervising staff/instructors
 Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
 Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time-management skills
 Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills
 Commitment to student development in management practices and leadership
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
