This kit was mounted on an '82 ATC 185S and worked well. I have a video showing it being used to start the ATC and I can send to you if interested.
This comes with the original installation paperwork.. The instructions have a smudge on the front page that is illegible but all other pages are good but do have some creases and wear.
The following parts are included (everything is shown in the pictures):
- Starter housing and starter. Includes extended length bolts needed to install.
- Internal gears and bolts to hook both the electric start gear and recoil gear to the engine. There is some rust on theae parts. I didn't clean them up so I could show their condition when removed.
- Starter button and all wiring including the jumper plug needed to connect the battery so that it can be charged. Includes starter and ground cables.
- Battery box with attached solenoid and mounting hardware.
- Modified gear shift lever and right side foot peg extender. These are needed as the case is wider with the starter housing installed.
- This is everything that was installed on the machine except the battery, battery ties and the ties to mount the wires to the frame. I had to cut the ties to remove the system. They are standard plastic cable ties that can be bought at any hardware store. An Amazon battery like the one in the video is about $45.
These were known to leak at the starter motor to casing interface - hence the small amount of rust. I never had any issue with the starter working and everything is still structurally sound. If I was installing this back on, I would clean up some of the rust on the bolts and put it back together. But $10 for new bolts may not be a bad idea.
I removed the entire system and put the recoil starter back on in about 45 minutes. Install will be slower but is pretty simple.
These kits do not have a neutral safety switch so you can spin the starter in any gear. They also did not come with a way to keep the neutral indicator by the shifter. Just an FYI. It startled me pretty good the first time I hit the starter with the trike in gear.
$650 FIRM.
