This viola is for the advancing student — or a beginner whose parents want the best for their children. This is not a “beginner” viola or a “violin shaped object” (VSO); the VA100 is focused on advanced tonal qualities, aesthetics, and ease of play. The VA100 is unlike beginner instruments which are focused on affordability, by use of cheaper materials and less concern with quality craftsmanship or tonal characteristics.

Comparable pricing: new $1,509 at Sweetwater, $1,476 at Music & Arts, used $998.60 on Woodsy, used $600 on Reverb (mine has an upgraded setup and is not a used piece of junk which will require a luthier — already done for you). You simply cannot beat this deal anywhere for the condition and quality of this viola.
This viola has been fully worked-over and with an upgraded setup, including sound-post, tuning pegs and strings. This viola is ready for school, lessons or just enjoying. This viola sounds great and has good projection — it will hold the standard in a college-level class.
This instrument appears to have not been used and may have been a return as it had no tuning pegs or sound-post (replaced and upgraded). It’s essentially an upgraded brand-new VA100 — sounds amazing.
