New MJE 910 AIR per Michael Joly
Folks have ask me for years to make an AKG C 414 type mic. I've always declined -- not because I don't love the C 414, it's a great mic with a balanced sound and lovely top end sheen. I declined simply because I wanted to become known as purveyor of mid-focused, "Neumann-esque" mics and not create confusion about how my mics are voiced.
But it occurred to me I could offer a one time, limited edition C 414-inspired mic. This would satisfy the people who've been asking for this sound and not confuse my brand position.
Please note the MJE-Hulk 990 AIR is a cardioid-only mic, not a multipattern mic. So if you don't need multipattern versatility but do want a cardioid mic for sparkling drum overheads, breathy female vocals or shimmering acoustic guitar tracks the MJE-Hulk 990 AIR is for you. Comes in plastic case with shock mount and smaller swivel adapter for tight spots. We start shipping the MJE-Hulk 990 AIR on Monday May 21 (2018 I think)
Michael Joly Engineering / OktavaMod Shop produced modification to almost all Oktava microphones until 2019.
light duty studio grill screen makes this only reasonable in a studio environment.
I had MJE modify this mic at the end of his time modifying mics, and have not used it at all. I never got a studio off the ground.
--This is cheaper than any Joly LDC on Reverb site now, and this one has never been used, its perfect.
--floating band suspension mount included in the carry box.
--This mic requires phantom power from a mixer or pre-amp. it will not work off many 'onebox' powered mixers
I ordered originally in fall 2018, just before Joly closed up his mic mod business
