A Tele with humbuckers, a belly cut contour for added comfort, a hard-tail bridge with a Strat-style string saddle, an enlarged headstock, and jumbo frets? What in the...?

Long story short: as rock became heavier in the late 1960s, Fender decided to branch out from their single-coil niche by hiring Seth Lover (inventor of the iconic PAF humbucker while working for Gibson) to design a new Fender humbucker to capture this emerging audience. Called the Wide Range, this pickup had all the low end of a PAF but with a much crisper, single-coil-like top end and therefore offered a much wider range (😉) of tonal possibilities.

They didn't end up selling all that well back then, but more recently Fender decided to re-create the instrument in all of its period-accurate glory for a much more receptive modern audience. Thus is the story of the Vintera '70s Telecaster Deluxe.

There's a small ding in the body near the neck strap button (see pics). Barely noticeable from a distance and doesn't affect playability whatsoever, but wanted to make note of it anyway.

Asking $900 OBO, possibly open to trades. Thanks!
