This is a 2011 Squire Classic Vibe 60's Strat that truly does have a nice vintage vibe and a serious pickup upgrade! It plays amazingly well, and I am very impressed with the quality and feel of this, considering what it is... hitting WAY above its paygrade, especially with the pickup upgrade done by first owner.
I am not interested in trades, and please... serious inquiries only! This guitar sells for $430 new with no case and is still made. This one is 15 years old but still near new (near mint) in condition (I found one ding on top only, no loss of paint, about 1/4" indentation on top near the input jack). Any build flaws would have emerged after 13 years.
The guitar was designed to provide a 60's vibe at a budget price, and as a long-time player and guitar afficionado, I think they did a great job of achieving that. They gave it a 60's-style headstock and tuners (including the logo and markings). It has an attractive aged-looking low-gloss "vintage-tint" maple neck, and sports high-narrow frets. The body is light-weight alder wood (weighs only 7 lbs). The fingerboard looks like rosewood, but they call it Indian laurel, and I have kept it oiled. It has a vintage style tortoise pickguard, and a vintage style tremolo. The hardware is nickel plated. The nut is bone. The body has a nice vibrant looking 3-color sunburst.... surprisingly good color and paint quality for this price level, IMO.
The pickups were replaced (not by me) with Fender Custom Shop (CS) Texas Specials. I had to research what the pickups are. The CS stickers are still intact. There are no bevels, staggered poles, a red dot on bridge pickup and a blue dot on neck, plus the yellow wire off middle pickup, with cloth/enamel wires. These features all point to Texas Specials (think Stevie Ray!), which cost over $270, so it is a significant upgrade. They measure 5.8k, 5.9k and 6.3k ohms, respectively.
Typical 5-way selector switch (you could easily switch the knob from white to match the aged PU covers and knobs). The knobs were changed to match the aged pickup covers, adding to the vintage vibe.
As for condition and playability-- I call it near mint. Very little sign of play or wear. There is the one ding, as mentioned above. I measure 1/16" high "E" string height at the 12th fret (about 2/16" on the bass side), and for me it plays very nicely. I'd say the guitar could use new strings, as they've been on there a while stored. Probably a 9 or 10 high "E" currently. I could possibly throw in a set if I have what you want.
The guitar weighs only 7.25 lbs
Bonus: included is a high-quality excellent Fender-branded gig bag. There is a tremolo bar in the bag (I do not use one).
