I'm a 3X Grammy-Winning producer living the the Sugarloaf community west of Boulder. Every year I help the local volunteer Fire Department during their Memorial Day garage sale. The entire community donates items for sale, and my job is to help estimate values of donated musical instruments and gear.
This year someone donated this cool Blue Star Mandoblaster electric 5-string mandolin in a hard case. This is a cult-classic 5-string electric mandolin hand-built by Michigan luthier Bruce Herron. Known for its catchy body styles ( resembling a mini Telecaster) and lipstick-tube pickups, it provides a versatile bridge between traditional mandolin and electric guitar sounds. The only comp I could find online was a Reverb.com listing for $877, so this is a deal.
The Memorial Day sale opens Friday May 22nd and runs through Sunday the 24th. If you're serious about it you might want to show up when they first open the doors at 9 am Friday. It's held at their main station at 1360 Sugarloaf rd. Boulder 80302. Take Canyon blvd. in Boulder and go west, 4 miles up Boulder Canyon take a right on Sugarloaf rd, the station is another 1.5 miles on your right, you can't miss it, it's a real to-do. Price is negotiable, especially on Sunday.
