Hi, I'm Peter Noble.
I have been teaching voice and piano in Nashville and Denver for over 40 years and have extensive experience working with students of all ages and levels of skill - from beginners to professionals. I teach in your home, my studio or online by Zoom.
I teach in a patient, personal style - tailoring lessons to each student's aptitude, ability, and pace. As students gain proficiency we can began to explore the music they love – using sheet music, charts, recordings, YouTube and various music websites and apps as we'll as learning to play by ear.
I am also a working musician currently playing tropical rock with the Margarita Brothers band, oldies with The Juke Box Boys and country with the Chris King Band and have performed all over the country in concerts, clubs, festivals, casinos, recording and video sessions - with bands, touring artists, songwriters, in duos and trios, playing many styles – rock, country, blues, jazz, reggae, classical and more. I have had experience in many different performance environments living in both Nashville and Denver: I have toured with a number of artists and have played venues from New York to Florida to Vegas to Portland: concerts, clubs, corporate events, weddings, tours, showcases, hotel lounges, recording sessions, video shoots and more. I can help you develop the skills to prepare and excel as a professional from playing to microphone technique to sound engineering to presenting yourself onstage in a professional manner.
VOCAL INSTRUCTION
I teach a powerful method of breathe control and sound placement that will
give you control and confidence in your voice.
If you are working professional, this can make a big difference in
all kinds of demanding performance environments.
Or, if you just want to sound good in the shower, I can help.
Depending on age and experience, we usually begin with the music you most want to sing - using tracks,YouTube or live accompaniment.
ACCOMPANY YOUR OWN VOICE
For those beginning to learn to play and sing (with piano or guitar),
to develop the ability, step by step, to do them together
playing music you want to learn, or perhaps your own songs.
PIANO AND KEYBOARD INSTRUCTION
Beginning students start with a method book as a basis, learning to keep a beat, read and listen at the same time, dynamics and phrasing. Theory is taught as it applies to each piece of music - helping the student understand and build on knowledge of scales, intervals, chords and rhythm. Ear training is emphasized as a natural part of memorizing music.
In other words the nuts and bolts of how music works. This the basis for furthering the skills of performing, writing, recording, making beats or just playing for your own enjoyment.
As skills progress we add music (both written and recorded) that the student is encouraged to choose.
If the student loves the music they are working on, it becomes personal and much more enjoyable!
Daily practice/playing is the most important factor to progress – I emphasize that creating that space in your day for music and sitting down at the piano are the hard parts. Once you are in front of the instrument the fun can begin! Even if you don't feel like “practicing” sometimes, just exploring the instrument or playing things you know and enjoy connects you to music that day.
Experienced students start from wherever you are working with music you want to learn. Whatever inspires you to play and want to become more become more skillful. If you a producer or electronic musician, you can further you career or hobby by understanding how music theory works and how to play an instrument – basic scales, chords, time signatures, rhythm (and how it differs from a beat), playing technique (such as finger drumming) and so on. How all of this applies to current beatmaking hardware and software - can help you progress as a student or artist.
