Purpose of the Survey
Denver RTD is conducting an On-Board Rider Survey in order to collect rider trips and characteristics for future planning. This survey is also an after study of the recent additions of the A, B, and R Lines. The data collected from passengers will be used to improve transit in the Data region and help improve overall transportation by using the collected data in planning and forecasting.
Position Title: Surveyor
Position Pay Rate: $15.00 Hourly
Survey Staff will report to their assigned report locations throughout Denver and the surrounding area:
Report Locations will be at various RTD Rail Stations (all stations will be utilized with the amount of buses in the transportation network)
Parking may and may not be available at the rail stations (some stations may have parking while others may not). Badges will be provided to staff in order to get to and from assignments.
Surveyors will report 15 minutes prior to their assigned bus/rail departure time in order to:
Check in (clock in) with survey supervisor
Receive a Tablet, hand-held scanner, card bag, and Receive an assignment sheet and any special instructions
Surveyors will be buses in teams of two:
Front Door Surveyor will track location on mapping program on tablet, select the bus stop when the bus arrives at that stop, scan cards and hand them to boarding passengers and instruct them to hold on to the card until they exit the bus.
Exit Door Surveyor will track location on mapping program on tablet, select the bus stop when the bus arrives at that stop, collect cards from departing passengers, scan cards so that they are attributed to that bus stop.
At the end of each bus trip, staff will get together and end trip on their tablet program and enter new trip information for next trip.
For rail on-to-off collection, survey staff will ride on-board light rail cars and ask passengers which station they boarded the rail and are getting off the rail.
The on-to-off distribution and collection will take place on the bus meaning staff will be on buses for roughly 7-8 hours daily throughout their shift.
At the end of each shift, staff will return to their location and return equipment, receive supervisor feedback, and receive a report time and location for the following day.
AM Shift -5 am-1pm
PM Shift 2 pm-10:30pm
Shift times will vary daily along with report locations which wills always be a RTD rail station.
Work days will be Monday-Thursday excluding Holidays
The on-to-off survey will last 2-6 Weeks or until project is complete.
Must be prompt as timeliness is important
Must be able to communicate with strangers (Bus Passengers)
Must possess knowledge of smartphones and/or tablet programs
Must possess knowledge of Google maps
Must be able to stand on your feet on board a moving bus for up to 8 hours
Comfortable shoes preferably with rubber soles for comfort and safety (high heels not recommended).

No T shirts
No facial tattoos or facial piercings
