Our communications center provides 24-hour dispatch services to our ambulances and wheelchair vehicles by monitoring and answering multiple phone lines; prioritizing and utilizing various radio and communication systems. This will include proper deployment of appropriate vehicles and crew members daily.
A Communications Specialist is responsible for the precise and accurate retrieval and dissemination of information and other administrative support functions.

-Provide customer service and interpersonal relations with the ability and desire to provide a high level of customer service.
-Answer, evaluate, prioritize and appropriately refer incoming phone calls.
-Possess and maintain the ability to provide excellent written and verbal skills to effectively communicate, interact and provide support to the general public, facilities, hospitals and external customers.
-Bring supportive interaction with all team members to help maintain a professional working environment.
-Maintain accurate status and appropriate deployment of assigned resources.
-Operate a multi-line phone system, radio communications system, computerized dispatch system and other various computer systems and databases.
-Bring developed skills in decision making, judgment, composure and prioritization of tasks.
-Gather necessary information to dispatch appropriate level of care, response, and vehicles.
-Display the ability to work under pressure and maintain self-control during peak periods.
-Maintain accurate records and notes, including any pertinent information related to the call.
-Maintain and update resource files utilized by the communications center.
-Demonstrate strong computer and data entry skills.
-Multi-task in an office environment with multiple personnel and various distractions.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
-Requires use of Google Docs, Google Maps, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
-Computer Aided Dispatch System (ESO)
-Mobile and landline phone systems, multi-channel radio systems, various email platforms, time-sheet programs and scheduling (ePro Scheduler).
-Also requires use of general office equipment, copy/fax/scanner.
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
- 8 to 10 hour shift lengths
-Night shift pay differential offered.
-Required high school diploma or GED equivalent.
*Previous emergency medical dispatcher experience preferred but not required.
