Box Elder syrup is made (and stored) the same way as maple syrup is as the trees are related. Living in Western Nebraska people have often spoken about this but until recently I never was able to find any. The Box Elder syrup was used by many of the pioneers after they departed the East coast & the sugar maple trees. The sap is drawn the same & according to the family I got mine from you have to boil 10 gallons of sap to get 1 gallon of syrup. Being an off the grid family they use the scraps from the saw mill operation as fuel. Trees that the sap was drawn from are from the Pine Ridge area of western Nebraska with Hot/Dry summers & Cold/Dry winters. There is a YOU TUBE video on this syrup.
Box Elder syrup has a very UNIQUE (to me not a sweet as Maple) taste. I am selling it in 2 new 4 ounce containers , about enough for 4 good stacks of pancakes. Containers (shown) are plastic to avoid breakage in shipping & they are reusable. If you have a resort may I suggest you put this in 1 ounce containers for your customers to avoid waste if not liked. As it has a UNIQUE taste.
I was only able to get a small amount & a pint (shown for color & identification only) at the end of this season so I am only offering a few containers as I want some for my use & some local friends.
I do NOT have any on line payment apps , a check or money order is acceptable.
