People believe that a shed is necessary. The henhouse, which serves as their sleeping quarters, is utilized solely for that purpose. I can assure you that most chicken coops with attached runs are insufficient for even chickens. Our chickens roam freely and rest in a henhouse that is smaller than the one in this picture. This henhouse build is ideal for creating a large run around it (even larger than what really big coops have), one that surpasses most coops. If feasible, I suggest allowing them to free range in your backyard. Chickens can exhibit aggressive behavior towards one another, so they will require ample space to escape from others.
I will provide details including the roof ridge vent, which facilitates the escape of heat on warm days. Chickens tend to do worse in high temperatures compared to colder conditions. The low pitch enables snow to accumulate on the roof during winter, serving as insulation on the cold days that follow snowstorms.
