Meet Kenny, an approximately 2-year-old black Shetland pony stallion looking for the right home.
I originally brought Kenny home thinking he would be a good pony for my very young granddaughters. It quickly became clear that he is too much pony for small children in his current stage of training. He is smart, curious, confident, territorial, and a little pistol. He needs an experienced horse person who knows how to establish boundaries and has the time to work with him consistently.
Kenny is also not friendly with my donkey, which is another reason I am looking for a better fit. He may benefit from being gelded, but I do not want to make that decision if someone would rather keep him as a stallion.
With proper handling and training, I believe Kenny could become a very nice small riding or driving pony. If someone is looking for a Shetland stallion, he also has the potential to be used as a breeding (stud) pony, allowing his new owner to decide whether to keep him intact or geld him.
