Sweet Basil Inc., is now looking for an executive pastry chef to lead the dessert programs at both Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard Restaurants. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Pastry chef to design and take complete control of a multiple outlet dessert program, all while having a manageable work schedule and enough time to enjoy the amazing surroundings that Vail has to offer. Big city level food/cuisine with world class recreation at your fingertips! This is a unique, challenging, and rewarding position with many opportunities for creativity and leadership. The pastry chef leads a small team of 3 dedicated pastry professionals on a daily basis. The pastry chef is responsible for all aspects of the dessert program for Sweet Basil: menu development, recipe writing, staff training, quality control, communication with the chef team and FOH on a daily basis, creative specials, daily plating and execution of the dessert menu, etc. etc. Many of the same aspects apply to Mountain Standard (creation, implementation, training, and production), but the daily plating/execution is the responsibility of the Mountain Standard savory chef team. The ideal candidate will be passionate, current with culinary trends, diverse, very organized, a strong leader, excellent communicator and willing to contribute to the culture of our kitchen (Let's Have Fun!!). Most of all, we hope to find a chef that is passionate about creating new and exciting desserts with the understanding that we have two different styles within our restaurants and the chef should be able to embrace the differences, rustic/simple to fine dinning/avant garde.
