Avanti Food & Beverage, a Collective Eatery, is hiring hosts. The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact with the guest and is responsible for greeting guests, as well as maintaining the flow of the building during service. Our ideal candidate will have an outgoing, positive personality. He/she will also be proficient in OpenTable for reservation purposes; retrieve messages and return phone calls in a clear, concise and accurate manner; explain COVID protocols to guests; communicate frequently with managers, guests, and staff about available seats in the building. Host staff is also responsible for maintaining the entryway, host stand, and surrounding areas. The host/hostess will report directly to the Guest Services Manager. This ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience as a host/hostess.
Job responsibilities include:
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the entrance, host stand, hostess storage closet, retail products, and restroom checks.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of entryway tables and chairs whenever possible.
Communicate and assist in set up of reservations and large parties.
Refill waters upon the request of the customer or server.
Remove dirty dishes, silverware and any debris from tables as floor checks are being done.
Check restrooms on a routine schedule to maintain cleanliness. Report any restroom problems to management immediately.
Assist with spills throughout the restaurant to assure customer safety.
Leave host stand in a clean condition prior to end of shift.
Assist customers with inquiries or as needed.
Remove trash from station
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Experience and Education:
Previous restaurant/host experience preferred but not required.
Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Required Skill Set:
Guest Experience: Must possess excellent customer service skills. Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism when interacting with guests and dealing with guest complaints. Ability to monitor and anticipate guests’ needs and respond accordingly in an effort to maintain a positive and enjoyable experience. Must be able to be on feet for extended periods of time, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Outgoing personality and friendly disposition highly desirable.
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform a variety of physical activities including, but not limited to, standing for long periods of time, climbing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to carry and lift cookware (pots, pans, etc) containing hot or cool foods and liquids. Ability to use sharp knives and cooking utensils. Must be able to use cleaning compounds and cleaning products. Must be able carry large bins filled with dishes, silverware and other eating utensils. Ability to work with a variety of restaurant lounge and/or bar equipment and tools.
Shift Flexibility: Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.
