This is an Ikegami HL-55 Camera head with an Ampex CVR-5 Betcam tape recorder on it and a Fujinon Lens with a Rode Pro mic.
This thing is HUGE. A proper portable field broadcast camera. Everything on this beast of a camera is tested and working. The video footage it makes is absolutely mind blowing for 1987. It even makes some of my early 2000s cameras look bad. The colors are stunning. Hooking this up to my PVM and seeing it display for the first time really blew me away.
The lens is very fun to use, completely manual. Great zoom and focus. The mic was eventually going to be replaced by a proper XLR direct attach shotgun mic, but I never go around to it.
I don't have any portable batteries for the thing, only the wall plug adapter, which works perfectly fine. (You can still buy brand new batteries!)
I will eventually upload an image of this displaying footage on a CRT. But its hard to capture how amazing this thing looks without seeing it in person.
This camera is an absolute blast to own, and blows everyone away when they see it and hold it (it weighs like, 15-20lbs.) The fact that a vintage broadcast camera like this is still functional is pretty rare. These things are getting increasingly hard to find and get your hands on.
This would be the perfect camcorder for any person in the hobby who wants the most badass broadcast camera to walk around with.
If you have any questions about the device, don't hesitate to ask!
It doesn't come with any tapes, as I lost them on my move
