This single cabinet is an entire surround sound speaker system with its own built-in power amps and 5.1-channel surround processor. Inside the cabinet are 21 tweeters and a pair of small woofers, all of which get their own amplifier channels. It is great for gaming, movies and home theater.
Digital signal processing creates the surround effect by forming "sound beams" from groups of drivers in the array that are either aimed at the listener or bounced off the walls.
The YSP 800 supports Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS Neo:6 processing. It features analog and digital audio inputs, subwoofer output, and composite-video output for menus. It can be set on a cabinet or wall mounted with the included ($80 original cost) bracket.
A big advantage is easy placement. Simply place the YSP 800 underneath your TV. Then instead of connecting cables or power to every speaker, run two wires from the YSP to your TV: digital audio input and composite video output (for setup menus).
