Offering my low mileage Buick Skylark Hardtop. I've owned this beautiful car for 3 years, and am ready to pass it on to a new caretaker. This car is believed to have under 30,000 having moved from collection to collection over the past 6 decades. Originally purchased, in Iowa, the original owner passed away a year after purchase. The car was subsequently stored, then passed through collectors throughout the mid-west ending up with me. Most of the paint is original with one front fender having been repainted early on (see image showing crazing). I had the roof repainted with correctly colored single stage paint as it was deteriorating quickly. There is no underside rust other than normal surface rust on the exhaust system.
The data plate interprets as:
Build Date 12A – First week of December 1961
Style 62-4347 - Skylark 2 Door Coupe
Body BK 764 – Kansas City 764th car built there
Trim 163 – Rose
Paint NC1 – Arctic White top over Burgundy
Everything in the engine compartment is correct and with routine maintenance items having been replaced over the years. I rebuilt the carburetor two years ago and replaced the heat riser to allow the automatic choke to work better. The fuel pump has also been replaced and the car runs beautifully. The original 215 Aluminum V8 doesn't smoke and starts every time. The muffler has pinholes in it, but nothing that you can hear. The front sway bar bushings have been replaced as well as ball joints and flexible brake lines (additional images available upon request).
The two front seats were reupholstered with correct SMS fabric. Remnants are included in the event that the rear seats ever need it. Otherwise, the interior is absolutely original. I had custom matched period correct seatbelts created for the front seats also.
The car comes with a high quality CarCovers indoor/outdoor cover. The car has always been covered and garaged. I just had new tires put on as the old ones, though showing good tread, were from the '80s! A fairly new battery has also been installed.
The Colorado Horseless Carriage plates transfer with the car, so no need to replate if you live here. My price is somewhat negotiable, but honestly, this is a rare bird and worth the value to a collector. No one ever owns these rare original beauties, we are just caretakers. I hope you will be the next!
