I'm parting ways with this little 118” Promaster camper van. At only 65K miles, this van has a lot more adventures ahead for its next owner.
The good:
Low miles
118” wheelbase hard to find, very convenient size. Fits in parking garages!
V6 engine
Brand new battery with a 2-yr warranty.
Low miles, well maintained and clean carfax.
Summer and winter tires included.
Basic camper van buildout (details below)
The bad:
The headliner inside has some visible water damage. This was due to a leaky gasket on a running light on the roof. As a result the dome light has also stopped working.
There are 2 open recalls from the dealership.
The brake light cover has a crack: easy fix.
Dent on roof from previous owner.
Small dent on hood from previous owner.
Buildout details:
This van buildout has the basics, and leaves out the luxury crap that just gets dirty after any real usage anyways.
The previous owner installed sheeps wool insulation on the walls and the ceiling, which I kept. I have slept in sub-zero temps while ski-camping, and with a good sleeping bag it stays nice and cozy even without a heater.
I installed rivet nuts throughout the van, so that the wall panels can be easily removed in seconds and reinstalled without any re-drilling. This comes in handy to access insulation, run wiring, or apply a fresh coat of paint.
The floating bed can be completely removed, which is handy if you need to move big furniture. The mattress (about a full) is memory foam with an additional foam topper. It is super comfortable. It is oriented side to side, and at ~6’0” I fit without having to sleep diagonally. Any taller, and you likely will need to sleep on the diagonal just FYI, or reconfigure the bed.
The floor is the OEM rubber flooring, with foam carpet cushion under for insulation and padding. Cleaning is easy, I just remove the rubber flooring from the van and hose it down. It’s not as pretty as permanent LVP, but it’s far more functional.
Driver and passenger seats are both OEM swivel seats.
There is a little roof vent from the previous owner that I kept as well for some air flow when sleeping. It is not electric. However you could probably swap it out easily.
The van does not have solar panels.
I installed an aftermarket backup camera that takes the place of the OEM rear view mirror. I still have the OEM mirror.
The van comes with winter and all-seasons for the summer, both with some life left in them. I have driven this van up i70 plenty in the winter, and have never had issues with the FWD and winter tire combo in the snow.
