Looking for a budget off roader? Want some old school, Japanese daily drivable reliability, but can’t stomach paying 15 grand for a Toyota with 300k miles on it? I present the 2003 Nissan pathfinder.
I bought this car with 56k original miles in 2021 with the intentions of turning it into a full overlanding rig, but didn’t quite get to see my vision all the way through to the end. You can pick up where I left off and keep the upgrades going, or throw some street tires on it and let her live out her glory days as a pavement princess. This car has blown me (and all the guys with $100k jeep builds) away in terms of its off-road performance, but it’s ready for its next adventure!
This pathfinder has a 2 1/2 inch lift with billstein shocks, extended travel front CV axles, and is running 245/70R17 falken wildpeak AT3s. The All-mode 4WD features full time RWD with selectable auto, 4x4hi, and 4x4low. Wheel bearings, CV axles, and brake pads/rotors were replaced at 90k miles. Recent oil change @106k miles.
Upgraded Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth and two USB/charging ports. Upgraded 2” Bose tweeters in the front, and an optional 10” Rockford Fosgate subwoofer in the rear.
The interior of this car is impeccable for the age. All weather floor mats are included with the vehicle. AC blows cold and heat blows hot.
The exterior has some scuffs and dings, normal wear and tear for a car of this age. I replaced both headlights with OEM parts when I bought the car in 2021, so no pesky headlight fog to buff out. There is a dent in the passenger side rear quarter panel, but I think someone with a plunger and a pitcher of hot water could fix that no problem!
I have lots of maintenance/upgrade receipts. Subwoofer is yours for 300 extra, otherwise it’ll find a new home in my next car.
Full upgrade list/cost with install (work performed by high country 4x4 and drive in auto sound in Denver):
- lift kit and install(2021): $1500
- stereo, speakers, subwoofers(2021): $1250
- extended travel CV axles, bearings, brake pads/rotors(Dec 2023): $2400
Recent(ish) major maintenance (performed by haglin automotive in Boulder, 2022)
-- swirl control valve and EGR vacuum solenoid replacement: $800
- both serpentine belt and tensionor replacement : $450
- other general maintenance: $1550
That’s $5,150 of upgrades and $2,800 maintenance performed in the last 5 years! This car has been deeply and professionally cared for during my 5ish years of ownership!
Text or email if interested. Do not call. If the add is up the car is available.
