Do you need a good mountain/commuter bike that looks new, sits upright, and rides well?
This Columbia Northway mountain bike rides perfectly and is comfortable and maneuverable. It is in “like new” condition (see pictures). This bike works well for commuting or cruising on dirt. It is not the bike I'd take on a technical MTB course, but it could do it.
This bike features a lightweight aluminum frame with a "cross country" design for easy getting on and dismounting. Frame size is 18”, a Medium/Large fit, so it comfortable fits a person 5'7" and taller.
The handlebar has a small rise and ergonomic grips. The stem is an adjustable height, which enables a comfortable upright riding position.
The ride is cushioned by a front wheel shock and a shock absorbing seat post for comfort.
The tires have very good tread and hold air (26in x 1.5in Kendra mountain tires). The 26” aluminum wheels spin true/straight and roll easily. The alloy rim brakes work properly for good stopping power.
The SRAM shifting is 7 speed x 3 chainrings. The grip shifting works well, giving you gear combinations from very low gears good for climbing hills to top gears for flat speed cruising. The rear derailleur does not want to go into the smallest cassette (for going fastest), so you may want to have this serviced. I have ridden it all summer on this bike without needing to use the smallest/fastest cassette gear.
The chain is good (it is not stretched).
This bike does not have a kick stand. The pictures show a kickstand, but it broke.
