Job Summary:
The Web Development Manager will be responsible for redeveloping and managing the American Solar Energy Society’s website, including database integration and user interactivity. This is a full time position based in Boulder, Colorado.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Develop an industry-leading website that provides the user-friendly information and functionality needed to help the organization speed the transition to a sustainable energy economy.

University Web Services (UWS) a division under Academic Technology and Extended Learning (ATEL) at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for a full-time client-side Web Developer. (Funding for this position is secured through August 2010. (Continuation beyond that date will depend on available funds.) The Web Developer will be responsible for front-end programming, design, and maintenance of the university’s websites from start to finish, and provide technical support as needed. In this environment, the Web Developer will work directly with our development team, senior staff, and external clients using XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. • Create engaging and high-quality designs for Web sites. Projects may include designing home pages, Web application interfaces, landing pages, email headers, and feature graphics. Web site designs must follow established Web technical and graphic standards. But provide opportunities to create unique new designs and templates.
• Update and create new graphics for existing Web sites. Prepare graphics to hand off to HTML developers who will code the site.
• Create engaging multimedia presentations such as Flash movies, tradeshow exhibits, DVD authoring, and online training elements
• Provide design leadership and innovative solutions for electronic media.
• Collaborate with other designers, communicators, and Web developers.
• Provide strong customer relations and project management skills.
• Self-manage schedules and tasks. Balance multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Track and bill time to clients.
Minimum Qualifications
• US Citizenship
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or other related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Five years of relevant experience in a scientific or technical information environment.
• Demonstrated skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite 4 design tools on a Macintosh computer platform. Specifically; Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, and InDesign.
• Exceptional understanding of fundamental Web site best practices, standards, usability, accessibility-compliant design, cross-browser compatibility and user interface design.
Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience designing Web sites and multimedia content.
• Solid understanding of typography, color, composition, hierarchy and user interface trends.
• Experience working with Web templates, style-guides, and corporate identity standards to ensure consistent messaging.
• Solid understanding of how Web graphics must be prepared and optimized for HTML development.
• Working knowledge of Flash ActionScript, HTML/XHTML, and CSS.
• Experience working with 3D illustration software.
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Candidate will be responsible for organizing and project managing efforts throughout the product development cycle, including maintaining communications between various internal and external resources including: design, internal and external development teams, communicating status of products/projects and enhancements to all stakeholders and managing thorough testing ensuring high quality results. Additionally, candidate will manage ongoing maintance to the site(s), including communicating problems or errors to the development, performing any testing associated with maintenance.
