Welcome to Shambhala Mountain Center, founded by The Venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in a valley in Red Feather Lakes at 7,600 feet above sea level in the northern Colorado Rocky Mountains. Trungpa Rinpoche's son, The Sakyong, Mipham Rinpoche is the current lineage holder of Shambhala Buddhism in the West and head of the international organization Shambhala International.
Shambhala Mountain Center seeks committed individuals who aspire to create enlightened society through volunteering this Summer in a contemplative practice community, serving, and inspiring the guests who come to the land. Living and working on this exquisitely beautiful, powerful land is transformative and challenging; if you are interested in offering your experience, capabilities, and energies to support the vision of enlightened society, we encourage you to apply at www.shambhalamountain.org/staff.php. There you will find an application and a list of open Summer Positions.
Volunteers receive free room and board, free access to weekend and weeknight teachings, work 32 hours a week in a department of their choosing, and live outside in double large-sized tents. Additionally, volunteers receive a $50 monthly cash stipend as well as $50 a week in program credit, good for up to 2 years after departure from Shambhala Mountain Center.
