Job Description: Business Assessment Intern
Starts Summer 2008
Internship Summary: The Business Assessment Intern will work with Micro Business Development in their “MBA” business consulting program which provides business development assistance to micro entrepreneurs. The intern will work with consultants from the Denver business community, small business owners, and the program manager to help formulate and implement business strategies for micro business enterprises. They will also conduct research on markets, competitors, industries, and resources. The position includes opportunities to write and edit business assessment reports and follow up with clients. The program is in a growth phase, so there will also be opportunities to help brainstorm and implement ways to streamline and market the program to new communities.
This internship may be of particular interest to students seeking experience in micro business enterprise, small business, non-profit, and/or issues of economic justice and self-employment. We bring in knowledgeable professionals from the business community to work with us in identifying the best strategies for our clients. Interns will get the opportunity to meet and network with these individuals.
This internship would require 10 to 15 hours/week. The schedule can be set at the beginning of
internship.
Experience
Candidates should possess strong writing skills. The ideal candidate has experience in or studied one or more of the following areas:
• All business and management areas
• Marketing
• Financial Management
• Entrepreneurship
• Microfinance or peer-lending
• Technology
