I’m moving to Denver from Portland on February 8 or 9 and am seeking a place, probably temporary, while I get settled in.

Here’s a little bit about me and what I’m looking for.

I’m male, 42, a non-smoker with no pets. I won’t have a car, so living near frequently running buses or light rail is essential.

I mentioned quiet above. That’s really important to me. Part of the time, I’m a voice-over artist, and right now I do my recording from my bedroom, so having a space that either has better-than-average sound-proofing (or no major traffic noise) works best for me, even in a short-term situation. I like older houses, even if they are colder, just because the walls tend to be thicker.

I am kind of a work from home person, but I do have many outside interests and am on the go doing photography and other activities. Probably, I will get a part-time job somewhere, too, in order to drum up a little community. I know Denver somewhat; I was there for 4 months last year and loved it. So I’m coming back, more or less to stay after a dozen years in the Pacific Northwest.

What else? I can’t live with smokers. Sorry, not even the outdoor kind. Not even for a little while. Tried it. The last time I lived with an outdoor smoker, his ashtray caught on fire and nearly burned the house down! (The smoker was on such a nicotine high that he didn’t even notice the flames.) Never again.

Cats and dogs are OK. I love Chihuahuas, and older, mellower dogs that don’t bark excessively.

I guess I should mention my anti-television bias. Please, no TV addicts. I’m an Internet junkie, which tends to be a little more private. :) I like people who gravitate more to books. I myself have been known to read for hours at Tattered Cover.

I know that taking a place sight unseen, even a short-term place, has all sorts of complications. I’ve done it before, and it’s turned out badly more often than not, either because I haven’t asked the right questions ahead of time, or because the person on the other end misrepresented the place/situation. But … there’s still lots of time between now and Feb to have conversations, see pictures, and all that good and necessary stuff.

We may or may not decide to purchase a home once we get settled in. Any lease we sign will have this flexibility written in to it.

I have worked at the same job for almost 3 years, love my job. In October, my company told us that they are going to relocate our office to Cheyenne, Wyoming effective April 1st, 2010. The good news is, I am NOT losing my job. The bad news is, its moving me to Cheyenne. So here's the difficult part:

I currently rent a home in Lakewood, which I love, and have 1 roommate. My lease is up January 31st. I am able to get my landlords to allow me to stay through March 31st, so that I don't have to try to find a place for 2 months, or I am able to move out January 31st, to move into a different place for 2 months.

However, my roommate is moving out in January, and I cannot afford the house on my own for 2 months. So I am looking for one of two things, if one of these situations would work out for you let me know.

1) Someone to move in with me for 2 months. This would require the person to put up $725 for the deposit (fully refundable), $725 a month in rent for each month, plus half of the utilities each month, approximately $150 each month. This would get you a space in the garage, a bedroom, a separate living area, and of course access to the large fenced back yard.

2) Somewhere to live for 2 months.

Things you should know about me:

I am 26 years old, and a female.
I am VERY responsible.
I have 2 small kennel and potty trained dogs.
Anyone wanting to live with me would have to get to know me a bit first to make sure it was a good fit.
I take very good care of everything I own as well as the place I live.
If it is for me to live elsewhere, I would have to have either 2 bedrooms or enough space to store my extra bedroom set somewhere.

If you have questions, please ask, I am more than willing to answer anything, I'm just looking for a fix to my predicament! :)
