So, I hitchhiked to Denver a few months ago and totally believd I would settle here. I still may at some point. I love it. But in speaking with someone who rideshared in and is on her way to Taos, and sharing my ideas and life with her over the past couple days (she left this morning), I am left with having determined my ultimate goal in life, which is to travel, volunteer, give and receive kindness, and to facilitate communication between groups of different people everywhere I go. I want to create positive change in the world and bring people together. And I believe, for a number of reasons, my journey begins in Olympia. So, the journey begins. I could start hitching again, and feel like the rideshare is a minor cheat, but frankly, I'd rather just get to Olympia to begin this than spending a week of sleeping out in the cold and waiting for rides. As great an experienc as hitchhiking to Denver was, I hope I can avoid the "bullshit" for this one leg of the trip. I don't care what you look like, your background, what kind of car you drive, etc. Just don't be s stalker creep and understand I don't have money to give you for gas (maybe a small bit, but I can't split) and that the whole basis for this trip anyway is kindness. You help me help others by giving me the ride. I'm going to be doing volunteer work and community building in Olympia, so you are helping a guy going to do some good in the world. I hope to leave sooner rather than later, and don't have a lot of stuff. Basically a backpack, duffel bag, and laptop. That's it. The duffel bag is actually a sleeping bag rolled up into itself, with a blanket and couple other camping tools stuffed in there, so it can compress pretty easily. The backpack is standard size, not a travel bag. Thank you so much.

I am trying to get home for Thanksgiving weekend, but Greyhound is so expensive and money's been really tight and its just a long ass trip both ways. Havent seen my parents in over four years ande its killing us all, and my sister who's been living in the UK is coming home for the weekend so Im trying to get out there cause she doesnt know when she'll be coming home again.

I wont have a lot with me, just one small bag and my backpack. I dont have a lot of money to spare, but I am great company (I have tons of different kinds of music I can burn to CDs for the trip, as well as a portable DVD player) and I can certainly help with driving, and the good karma would be endless.

Looking to leave early on the 27th, I get out of work around 5am, and get into the Sandy Hook area the next day, but I can be dropped off at Newark train station and take a train the rest of the way if its more convenient.

Hello lovely people!
I am trying to get home over Christmas break for about 2 weeks. I am hoping to drive my subaru impreza (which is all good to go, very reliable, and gets great mileage!) and avoid the skyway robbery and stress of flying... I am looking for two or three (or even four if we wanna squeeze and really save on gas) people who are trying to head to upstate NY (I live in Syracuse, which would be a great central location to get others where they need to go if you live within a few hours!) and would be willing to split gas money. The dates I'm after are from from December18th to January 2nd! I am aiming to have both dates be the "take off" dates.. (but I can give or take one day in either direction!) with about a 1700 mi or 26 hour drive, we can bust into upstate in no time at all if even just one other person besides me is willing to drive, we can drive straight on through (I am quite a machine and can hold my own for several hrs)!! I live in Ft. Collins now, am a frequent of Denver, and would be down to include anyone who isn't unreasonably far away. As far as how much pitching for gas would turn out to be.. I'm kind of limited in my math skills at this point, but 1700 ish miles... and price of gas is about $2.70/gallon, and my subie gets about 24 mi/gallon on the highway.. ummmm yea, i think that comes out to be between $40-50 per (four) people one way, and around $100 round trip.. which is about 1/4 of the price of a round trip airline ticket from DIA to CNY... Anyway you look at it, even with three people splitting gas, its a way better deal; no sucky airports or uncontrollable circumstances (delayed flights, lost luggage, gagg), just tunes an occasional toke.. (had to throw that in cuz its gonna happen), and the open road :) Although it will take us a little longer, whats an entire day + a couple of hours compared to the better half of a crappy day completely dedicated to flying anyway!? Also, I'm down with pretyt much every genre of music (besides country, I'm sorry, but that just won't work..haha), and my car has a cd player and more importantly, an aux cord ready to rock your ipods :) I love a good long drive, so if there is anyone out there who feels the same, please don't wait to contact me! If I don't get the response I need to save $ on the drive, I'm gonna be just another crazed person standing in the whirlwind of holiday travel at the airport next to you!!

I need to reach Denver from Milan around the 11th April 2010. Date not sure yet, it could be one or two days earlier. But in order to save money *and* to enjoy some landscapes, I plan to fly to LAX, rent a car and drive to Denver. I would like to take that chance to relax before my business routines in Denver, so the trip should be slow and not excessively planned. And yes, there should definitely be some stops for pencil sketches/idle chat with local greengrocer/large steaks and cold beers/weird museum etc.
