I'm wanting to get out of bush country . But a place with some sweet music is also pretty important to me. I'm into alot of different rock styles, everything from muse, pre '2000' creed, three doors down, sr71, goo goo dolls, and tons of other random bands. My last band was a blend of some pretty crazy rock influences. The most fun I had with music, but some family problems with the front man pretty much lead to it's split. I'd like to know a little about the music scene in CO. The earliest I'd be able to move would be around the begining of 2010 assuming I could get a job transfer and all that, find a place to live etc. maybe even find a room mate or something. Any input on the area would be awsome.
Thanks

About Mr. Madera:

Born in New York City, son of Jose "Pin" Madera, who was the first arranger for the Machito Orchestra, Jose spent 31 years with the Tito Puente Orchestra. While there, he served as a percussionist and later went on to become a musical arranger and the musical director of the Orchestra. He has written many arrangements for countless commercial Latin artists and has recorded or worked with many of them as well. Some of them include: Larry Harlow, Johnny Pacheco, Chico O'farill, The Lincoln Center Afro-Cuban jazz orchestra, Celia Cruz, Tito Rodriguez, Fania All-Stars, Willie Colon, Joe Farrell, Machito, Graciela, Mario Bauza, Willie Rosario, Earl Klughand Eddie Palmieri, just to name a few. Jose has also worked and recorded with many pop, R&B and jazz artists. Some of them include Diana Ross, James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D'Rivera, George Benson and Lionel Hampton among others. Mr. Madera has performed on over 250 recordings. He has worked on several! television show soundtracks, the most recent being: "The Simpsons" and several motion picture soundtracks, the most recent being "The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love," where he was the musical arranger and conductor for the Tito Puente segment of the film. Jose also taught the art of playing Latin percussion instruments at BOYS HARBOR in New York City for 28 years. He is currently a Latin Percussion Company endorser/artist and has done and continues to do musical clinics around the country at various schools. He was the musical director of the Latin Giants of Jazz from 2001 to 2009. Jose continues his musical direction with a band comprised of former members of the Tito Puente Orchestra, which is dedicated to performing new creative Latin and Latin jazz concepts, as well as some of the music of Machito, Tito Rodriguez and Tito Puente. Mr. Madera has personally recreated and re-arranged much of the music that those bands performed during the heyday of the mambo at the Palladium Ballroom in New York City, considered by many critics to be the "Greatest and most innovative Era" in the history of Latin music.

Brighton Church Looking for Musicians (Brighton)

Attention Brighton area musicians (or anyone who doesn't mind driving a long ways.):

I'm a new worship leader over at a Bridge Church in Brighton who is looking for musicians of any level to help with the praise and worship on Sunday mornings. It is only one service and our typical set is 6 songs. This is a new and very small church so it is hard to find musicians to play consistantly, especially drummers and bass players. I have much experience playing almost every instrument on stage of a typical worship band so I can help musicians with little experience learn new skills for worship if needed. These are not really paid positions, but I may buy you lunch on occasion and this is a great way to get experience playing on stage and serving the church. The church is fairly laid back and makes for a very laid back and non-threatening atmosphere.

If you're interested, please email me back at the above email address or call me at 720-280-7166 after 6pm on weekdays. Please state the instrument you play and how often you're willing to play. Once a month is fine, but I'm hoping for some consistancy and we may even be able to get you in this week if you're available. There is a definite need in this church for better music especially at this time so any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Any bands interested in playing this show with us. We were playing w/ our friends from The Stigmas but they had to drop out due to a personal matter. Pay is based on bar sales on this show so we would ideally like to add a group that's willing to just play for some beers and exposure. If you can bring a bunch of people we'll make sure you get paid for it.

so it's this friday- the 13th! = probably have the opening band play 9-10 or something like that.

Hit me up via email if you're interested, I'm looking to put this together today so don't be shy.

Open Tap (fmr Cafe Cero) is located at Broadway and Florida= 2 mins south of I25.
Very chill intimate venue, we should have a good crowd going and would love to add a band that can bring some more. Peace!

My teaching style revolves around developing guitar techniques so that kids & adults can play the styles of music (and songs) that they enjoy, beginner through advanced. I teach music theory and sight reading upon request but my primary focus is technique & style. We all want to make music, right? I've been teaching guitar for well over 14 years however I've played the guitar since I was a little kid! (over 20 years+GIT Graduate).
I travel to my student's homes (pretty convenient & throughout the Denver Metro area) and my hourly rate is $35 per hour. References available. Please feel free to email if you'd like to ask me questions.

Hello,

We are in the process of launching a new online music magazine. The focus is on both independent and local music. We also will be reviewing national acts both in a live and recorded setting. What we are looking for is someone who is intelligent, has a sense of humor, and, this is super important, loves music. Some things to consider; we are not Pitchfork, hell, this isn't even Westword (thank God!). No haughty prose, long winded bullshit, or self referencing. The pay is TBD, but we will be paying the right people.

If you are interested, please send us the following:
-A review of the most recent album you bought (or downloaded). 300 words.
-A review of the most recent live show you attended. 500 words.
-Your top ten favorite records.
-What you are interested in writing about.

We look forward to hearing from you.

MUSIC STUDIO NOW ACCEPTING MORE STUDENTS! (Hampden & Monaco)

MUSIC LESSONS NOW fAVAILABLE FOR PIANO, FLUTE, VOCAL, ORGAN, and SAXOPHONE STUDENTS!!!

Hello!

We are delighted to announce that we will be accepting more students for the start of the 09-10 school year!

If this is your first time considering lessons, or even if you are looking to continue lessons after a hiatus, we would really encourage you to do so!
Music Education has been slowly slipping away in our public schools due to budget cuts and students' test-taking emphasis... Thus, we have to do everything we can to ensure that music remains an integral part of our youngsters lives, and moreover, our OWN lives to maintain that example.

We cater our lessons to suit the needs of every student- we have taught every age from 4 to 84! We will consult with each student and/or parent to figure out what type of instruction will be best for him or her.
Most lessons will include a combination of music theory (learning to read and understand musical notation), repertoire (common musical selections for particular instrument), and performance practice (learning how to perform with confidence and professionalism). We encourage each of our students to perform in recitals, either public or private for one's family, and continue the art of sharing music!

The studio is located conveniently at Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, 6500 E. Girard Ave. Denver, CO 80224. Here we have access to rooms, space, pianos, and our 30-rank McManis pipe organ.

Rates: $25/half hour; $45/hour.

Please consider this great opportunity for you, your child, or someone you know to continue learning about the wonderful gift of music!

Rachel Padworski
(303) 770-0915

Kevin Padworski began his musical studies on piano at the age of 7 and picked up his first saxophone when he was 9 years old. After much interest he began vocal and organ instruction at age 13 and accepted his first church organist position the very same year. Having received the Mozart Music Scholarship, he did his undergraduate work in Music Education with concentrations in saxophone and organ at Eastern University in St. David's, PA where he graduated Magna cum laude. Kevin has performed extensively throughout the east coast from private parties to concert halls in each discipline, winning numerous honors and competitions. He has actively participated in choral, instrumental, and orchestral ensembles as a accompanist, member, and conductor. Furthermore, he has created and offered church music programs at numerous churches and denominations since the age of 13, most recently at his new appointment as Director of Music/organist at Calvary Baptist Church of Denver.
Mr. Padworski is a member of the Fellowship of American Baptist Musicians, the American Guild of Organists, and is listed in Who's Who publications.

Rachel Padworski is an active performer and director. She attended Eastern University in St. David's, PA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education as well as a degree in Flute Performance. She has experience performing in numerous ensembles such as wind ensembles, flute choirs, and orchestras. Rachel has taught in various settings ranging from public school to private lessons, teaching general music, instrumental pedagogy, and conducting. Currently, she teaches music within the Cherry Creek School District. Mrs. Padworski is an active member of the National Flute Association.

Lost to the current generation of female vocalists is exposure to the qualities of Candy Givens, from the band Zephyr, and Annie Haslem (from the band Rennaisance). I encourage, and strongly suggest, that younger rockers Google these two bands and give them both a good listen. CDs of Zephyr and Rennaisance are, no doubt, available at Twist and Shout. These ladies have/had two completely different styles. Sadly, Candy's demise and early death came about through substance abuse. Annie is still around, though Rennauisance has not been together for many years.

If there are any ladies out there who have the vocal qualities and interests of either Candy or Annie, please drop me a line. One of the bands that I play bass with is looking for a strong lead singer. We play original music and have a band of skilled players in place, as well as plenty of material already written and arranged. All that we lack at present is the front person.

RE: Work Permit/Under 21 (Denver)

In order to obtain a work permit for an individual under 21 to perform in a bar you must:

- Go to the excise and licensing department @ Public Works Administration Office located at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building @ 201 West Colfax Avenue, Dept. #608, Denver, Colorado 80202.

- You will need an ID and/or DL

- Once cleared, you will get a piece of paper indicating that you're ok to perform in a bar (this is only good for one time, and you must do this each time you wish to perform in a bar (I know, it sucks)

This is not an urban legend, this is mandatory for anyone under 21 wishing to perform in a bar/establishment for people 21+

Some bars may let you slide, but it's not likely as the city is cracking down on this.

Hope this helped!!

I'm looking to collaborate with a female vocalist. I'm currently in a rock/blues oriented band and would like a little contrast to what I'm doing now. I'd like to keep it simple with an acoustic/vocal format however, I'm open to any additional ideas. My taste have lately been leaning towards female vocalist like; VV Brown, Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse, Lykke Li, Imogen Heap and other similar artist. I'm open to doing covers but would like to write originals. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in I would love to hear from you.

The music industry focuses a lot on image whether the artist/band is male or female. Remember N'Suck or the Backdoor Boys? Granted it takes a lot of talent and hard work to simultaneously dance around and sing four-part harmony, but the "music" was horrible. Then there are the metrosexual soft rock bands that sing vagina songs about love and relationships. Bleagh. But girls eat it up faster than the band members can eat them out, and label execs know this. I may or may not have seen, on the Disney Channel, screaming little girls everywhere getting excited over sub-standard pop rock played by incestuous brothers still in the closet. Imagine fat, balding, 40-year-old guys performing the same type of material. A little creepy, perhaps? Potentially my next project idea lmao.

You have a good point, amigo, that chick rockers have it pretty easy. But who do you think appeals more to most chicks and is more likely to score a major-label record deal? The hot guy with just enough talent to write three-chord panty splashers, or the grungy death metal band that can play 32nd notes at 300 bpm?

Hey bass players.
I've been looking to start up a new band for quite some time now, and I've made quite a few posts up here already.
Well I've finally got five members ready to go. Drums, vocals, keys, and two guitars.
All we need now is a bass player. We haven't even met up yet, because everyone wants to wait until there are a full six members, but once we find that right person for bass, we'll try and meet up right away so that we can get the ball rolling.
Our influences vary, but everyone in the band has hardcore influences, and that's most likely the direction we'll want to take.
We're all fans of bandslike A Day to Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, etc.
So if you're a bass player that has your own equipment, and you're ready to start up a new a band, hit me up. :]

Hello
My name is Ryan and I'm 18 years old. I play guitar(rhythm). I have a Fender Squire with a Line 6 Spider 15 watt amp :p, I'm looking to get a new guitar soon. For now I just want to collaborate with another guitarist. I am christian so if I were to start a band I would want to incorporate that into the lyrics/lifestyle. I don't drink or do drugs so I'd like to find someone that's like-minded. some of my influences are: For Today, Mychildren Mybride, A Plea for Purging, Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Impending Doom, Black Dahlia Murder, As Hell Retreats, As I Lay Dying, Born of Osiris, Oceano, Within the Ruins, For the Fallen Dreams, etc. I currently do not have a car so for now(unless you live fairly close to me) I just want to send tabs/recordings back and forth until I can get a car hopefully in February.

You can listen to some of my recordings at: myspace.com/blahhhhhhhhblahhhh
My email is RY27917@msn.com

Great established local band with very adept musicians seeks a skilled drummer. Our music is mainly a mixture of funk, rock & jazz, with reggae & world influences. The current line-up is a 5-pc. (vox, gtr., bass, keys, drums)--we also add sax and/or percussion when necessary. We need a drummer who is solid and versatile enough to move from funk/rock to jazz to afro-beat to new school electronica-esque house & d'n'b beats. From a drummer sound perspective, think Adam Deitsch, Lenny White, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Harvey Mason, Stanton Moore...you get the picture. Our near term goal is to finish the line-up, record our next album, and perform at some of the more major regional and national festivals. We have great gigs that pay well, and we are all motivated individuals. Ironically, we are more stable and better than most of the working musicians in Denver. This is a great opportunity for the right drummer!

Space rock/atmospheric pop/psychedelic/indie rock band (Denver)

I am 24 year old female bassist and singer interested in starting a sort of space rock/psychedelic pop/atmospheric/indie rock/partly shoegazery type of band. Some bands I like and might be inclined towards sounding like in this project include Darker My Love, Evangelicals, Yo La Tengo, Sleepy Sun, Warlocks, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, Ride, The Verve, Love, Telescopes, Echo and the Bunnymen, Donovan, The Zombies, Belle and Sebastian, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, Thee Oh Sees, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Fleet Foxes, and a lot of others. I want there to be room for the sound of the band to take whatever shape it does, and not necessarily be tied to an ultra-specific genre/sound, yet still be cohesive. The main thing that is important is the atmospheric element. I tend to like a lot of reverb and delay in the guitars and vocals. I also love vocal harmonies. I have been playing bass for 13 years, and have had lots of experience being in bands, playing shows, recording, and touring.

What I'm looking for:
-2 guitarists (who preferably share my love of reverb and delay)
-a solid and experienced drummer
-or if you are really interested but play bass, I also play some guitar and would be open to that idea.

Singing skills (you don't have to be perfect) are a huge plus as I would really like there to be harmonies. I will be doing some of the songwriting and singing, but I welcome other singer/writers and enjoy collaborating. I'm looking for people who are passionate and serious about playing music, and are ready to put time and energy into getting something really good going. That will include practicing at least twice a week, writing new songs together, recording, playing shows in town at least once or twice a month, and eventually travelling to play shows and touring when we are ready. I don't care about "pro-gear", as long as you have stuff that's decent and works for playing out and recording. Sometimes cheap stuff gives things a more interesting sound.

If you're interested, either email or call me and we can talk more.

I'm not the chick - just one of the potential guitar players in her band if she could just find a drummer. She's deep in the heart of Highlands Ranch, which means it's a bit of a drive if you're like me and live in Aurora or Denver. However, I'm confident enough in her potential as a songwriter that I'm willing to make the drive (or pay the gas money, since the only cars I ever have are borrowed) if she had a full band put together. She has a solo album that I have listened to all the way through - to slap a label on her music, it's pop rock occasionally mixed with elements of industrial. Go to myspace.com/crystalnotes and listen to her tunes for yourself - my personal recommendations are "Anti-Social," "Sorrows Lullaby," and "Laughing At The World." I can also burn you a copy of the album, but you have to be serious about wanting to try out for her band. E-mail or phone me: (720) 229-5553 (cell) or (720) 532-0592 (home), or simply message Crystal on MySpace and tell her you're interested in drumming for her band.

I'm 27, and I've been singing since I was old enough to speak. I'm currently involved in a few studio projects but looking to start or join an original band with like-minded individuals (around the same age) who share the intention of playing live shows, developing a fan base, recording an album, and getting on the radio. I have close to 2 albums of completed vocal lines written for several different genres of music. Some of my influences include: Chino Moreno (Deftones), Michael Jackson, Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Maynard Keenan (Tool/APC), Trent Reznor (NIN), Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Beth Gibbons (Portishead), and the list goes on....

I would prefer to be a part of a pop-sensible electronic or melodic alt/indie rock project along the lines of Muse or Shiny Toy Guns, but I am open to just about anything (except metal or country) as long as it moves me. Personal chemistry is a must too, though, so if you're interested in talking more and hearing some of my tunes, please write back with a little about yourself or your band and a link to some of your previous works.

Thanks for your time!

Bone Orchard Revival assembling new live lineup, high-end string or multi-instrumentalist needed. Fiddle/Mando/Banjo/etc. I'd also take a pedal steel player in a heartbeat, but they're harder to come by.

Evil Americana with a sexy side, the sound has been described as 'something like Tom Waits and the Carter Family in the back of an old rusted coupe'. Current live lineup I'm working with is 5 pieces including female vox/lead gtr/bass/keys/various other instruments like banjo/mando/tenor gtr, possibly a cello. Looking to more multi-instrumentalist and also put up an ad for a kit drummer. All nice decent competent musicians, good people to play with, looking to be out and playing by Jan/Feb, 3-5 shows/month. Have records pressed and ready for sale still, relocated here from MI a few months back. Will be recording another record soon here in Denver. Pay will be an equal cut of all show revenue, I always pay the band first but let's be honest and say you gotta be doing it because you enjoy the music and the doing, I'm not in the market for hiring guns. I play guitar/banjo/tenor gtr and am learning mando, so someone else who could work with those instruments also would allow the live sound to be more dynamic.

Have practice space on south side of Denver. You must have gear (although I have a banjo/mando/tenor/fiddle as well to share as needed)/transportation/decent working attitude/all vices fairly under control.
Smaller kits preferred, it's country/traditional/blues influenced music and not rocket science. Need some dynamic though, some mild brush skills, ability to swing things a bit and improvise/input. Ability to play any other instruments a plus.

Hello, my name's Dave. I'm 23 yrs old and I am the singer/guitarist for Bedrockk. I just moved to Denver a couple months ago and formed this band. I call our style dirty pop - a fusion of hot electronic/dance (disco/electro/pop) with the roots of music (blues/reggae/dub/garage/hiphop). We are currently a 3 piece band - me on vocals/guitar, a bass/synth player, and a drummer. However, we are looking for a 4th member to be the behind the scenes person to control digital loops. You can check out some of our music at myspace.com/bedrockkmusic . You will see that I just started this band, as we only have 200 hits or so. However, you can check out my last band at myspace.com/redapplehighway to see that I do have experience and we have a pretty solid fan base in Boulder already. My last band opened up for acts such as Immortal Technique, Living Legends, Gregory Alan Isakov, blah blah blah. We have a solid lawyer/manager who is ready to help as soon as we get it goin. As far as shows in the near future, we have plenty available to us, including a benefit show at The Fox in December. We have possible touring opportunities down the road but are looking to establish a solid local following in Denver/Boulder first. I just graduated from college at CU and music is my life for the next few yrs. I am looking for someone who is relatively young (under 30). I am looking for someone who is down to make this their main focus, someone who is down to make it happen. Hit me up if you think you got it.

Hey, I play guitar and I'm interested in playing punk with a bit of ska mixed in, nothing cheesy. I've got loads of riffs and progressions written and I'm looking for the right people to play with. I try to write catchy, simple, fast, upbeat riffs. If you want to hear some i can send you them in an email, just ask. I play power chords -- nothing fancy, but that's what punk is about. I have a practice space to use for free, I have recording equipment, i've mixed bands demos, I've played in other bands (shitty ones), and I'm a music business student. I'm looking for people with some experience that want to play some ska/punk! I'm serious about this! I can sing well, but I suck at writing lyrics. I'm looking for bass, fast drums, and a singer who can write and has personality in their voice. I'm 22 and getting old, so let's do this already!

We need people who are willing to put the time in; at least once a week to practice and can preferably have Wednesdays open. We play a mix of folk rock, but with more of a groovy feel. Rilo Kiley meets Postal Service meets Simon & Garfunkel meets Broken Social Scene. The core of the band is a boy/girl duo emphasizing harmonies. Whoever joins has got to get into it onstage too, we like to dance around and have fun. Dressing uniform with the band will also be strongly encouraged. Our myspace is new but you can check out for some songs and a video of us live at www.myspace.com/oakcreekband or danielwatters.com.

Drummers - While technical ability is a major plus, a hard groove and great timing are the most important aspects we're looking for in a drummer. We will be playing with beats so being able to play along side a consistent rhythm is a must, and hopefully set-up using some electronic drum samples live.

Weekend Warrior Country Band needs Bass Player (Denver)

Bassists! Are you a cog in the corporate machine? Do you miss the heat of the stage lights and the sound of feet stomping the dance floor to your thunderous sound? Are you tired of going to auditions only to find out the band wants a full-time player who can rehearse during business hours? Are you frustrated at the lack of middle ground between the pros and the kids?

We're a weekend warrior Country cover band about ready to start playing local bars. We’ll focus on danceable old / alt / new (but good) Country songs, with a little Rockabilly and Soul thrown in. Ideally, all members of the band will have considerable performance experience but also a career outside of music. You’ll be joining some great players:
A formally trained male singer with 15+ years experience including performance in major venues. He'll strum the acoustic most of the time too.
A lead guitarist also formally trained with 15+ years experience in bands of various styles
A pedal steel guitarist with an amazing ear and strong classic country repetoir
A highly experienced drummer that knows what to do with a minimal kit.

We’re all around 30, have families and careers, but live music is where it’s at, so we need to fill that void.
The goal is to rehearse consistently once a week and play out 1-2 times per month. We’re about to start booking short gigs while we build the rest of a full length setlist, but we need a bassist to complete the sound.

As the Bassist, you:
Must be comfortable with a Country rhythm section role (hold down the bottom end and keep the groove with the drummer)
Upright player would be awesome, but this is not a requirement
Must have a job and a stable life situation
Must not use drugs
Must have transportation and be willing to move equipment for gigs
Must have good sounding, reliable equipment appropriate for small venue performance
Must practice and learn songs on their own
Know that “Rehearsal” is for tightening the band, not learning their individual parts
Must play for fun and have fun playing, but not be content with a sloppy sounding band
Basically, you need to have an attitude and work ethic as if you were a full-time player
Of course, like with any band, backing vocals are a plus

We’d like to maintain a marketable image appropriate for the genre, so you should be fairly clean-cut and be mid-20’s to late 30’s in age. Age is not a show stopper though, if you have the right attitude.

If you’ve gotten this far and are still interested, shoot me an email with a little info about yourself, your style, and a recording (or website) of your playing. I’ll give you a few songs to learn and we can get together in a week or so and jam for a little bit.

Hi, my name is Dan Polizzi and I am a graduate of Indiana University's School of Music where I studied Classical Guitar & Music Theory.
I have been playing guitar for more than 24 years and have 16 years teaching experience. Over the years I have taught at many different
music stores and academies in Longmont, Louisville, and Northglenn. Just last Fall, myself and James Garcia, opened up our own
teaching studio called the North Metro Music Academy (NMMA, www.nmma.biz ) located at 88th & Huron. Also, I am currently living
North of town and if you are in the Frederick, Firestone, Dacono area we may be able to arrange for lessons at my house.

As a teacher, I have a very straight forward, 'easy to progress' approach that works great with any age of student ranging from
beginning to advanced levels in the styles of Acoustic, Electric, Finger Picking, Blues, Rock, Folk, Classical, & Celtic Fingerstyle.
We'll always have fun and before you know it you'll be playing everything from AC/DC to Jim Croce!

My lessons are one-on-one private instruction, and are once a week, on the same day, at the same time.
Lesson 'slots' are reserved at monthly increments and paid for on the first lesson of the month.
There are no 'make up' lessons for "no shows" or short notices (less than 24 hours).

I have space for a few new students and offer instruction in a longer, 45min. lesson, at a
discount rate which is $128/mth. My 30min. rate is $88/mth.

Email me at pzisound@earthlink.net or call (720)838-8404 if you would like to
check availability, schedule lessons, or if you have any other questions.
