Experienced player looking to be part of a band.
I am energetic and lots of fun. I can jump in and play just anything appropriate for the washboard; blues, blue grass, swing, Dixieland jazz, folk, zydeco, and county.
Currently, I am play as a guest with a blues/ zydeco band in Boulder, playing in various festivals and other gigs, I also enjoy jumping on stage and playing at various open mics. Would like to find a band in Denver.
The washboard, is a unique percussion instrument, not many have seen one played. It sounds great, adds an awesome accent and really gives the band a creative energy that’s rarely seen.
The board I play is a professional steel vest. I play primarily with a wire brushes, as well as snare brushes giving it a soft, jazzy and bluesy sound. Majority of washboard player’s, play with thimbles, spoons or paint can openers. I have tried them all………to be honest, that style of playing can be quite obnoxious and too loud. I have experimented with this instrument and have a created a unique and less intrusive sound.
Previously, I played the drums for a bit, but got turned onto the washboard in New Orleans. I am fun, laid back and passionate about playing and meeting other kindred folks who love making music!
Thanks.
