Cheese Making Classes

Cheese making is an ancient art that has been practiced since the domestication of animals. Join us to learn this ancient skill while creating a variety of soft and hard cheeses including cottage, mozzarella, and more. Cultured milk products such as yogurt will also be explored. This class includes lots of hands-on and is designed so that children may also participate. Bring home with you the knowledge and recipes to create more delicious cheeses at home.

Hard Cheese class - making cheddar -

Cheddar Cheese Making at Home Saturday November 7, 9 am to 5 pm , Wednesday November 11 6- 9 pm
You can take home a 2 pound wheel of home-made cheddar cheese. Please join us for a fun filled Saturday and Wednesday evening. We will be tasting other homemade hard cheese. We will be making lunch with a fresh soft cheese.

A home chess press ( 50 pounds , 24 hours) and an aging environment (55º , 3 months) are required to make this cheese. (Making hard cheese requires the use of mechanically applied pressure to extract a high level of moisture) You may come and participate without taking any cheese home if you don't have a press. Both presses and kits to make a home cheese press will be available.

Instructor will supply all other materials.

A $10 material fee is payable to the instructor the first day of class only for those making cheese, $5 for all others.
Price $55/$65

Brie Cheese Making at Home

Take home 2-1 pound wheels of home-made Brie cheese. Please join us for a fun filled evening. We will be tasting other homemade hard cheese. You do not need a cheese press but, an aging environment (55º , 1 month) is required to make this cheese. You may come and participate without taking any cheese home if you don't have a an aging refrigerator. Please email any concerns or questions to macscheese@msn.com. Presses and kits to make a home cheese press will be available. Instructor will supply all materials for Brie only.
